
| The Museu Balear de Ciències Naturals opened its doors to the public in 1992. The museum's main objective is to make people (young people as well as adults) aware of the natural variety that Balears possesses. It carries out, as well, several research projects. Their main fields of study are geology, zoology, and mycology. Finally, the museum encourages the preservation of natural history collections. |

The Colom Collection (micropaleontology) More than 20.000 preparations of microfossils and a specialised library that includes more than 12.000 books, form the collection that bears the name of the naturalist from Sóller Guillem Colom i Casanovas (1900-1993). |

The Bauzá Collection (palaeontology) The palaeontological collection created by Joan Bauzá Rullan is especially rich in fishes and has the most important fossil archive in the Balearics. |
| SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH The different collaborators that work in the different departments of the Museum work on research projects about the fauna, flora and geography of the Balears. Currently, there are several research projects running in the following areas: entomology, carcinology, mycology, speleology, karst sciences and regional geology. |
